Festive Drugstore Lipsticks

I've dusted off my red lipstick collection for the month of December and have tried to wear a festive colour every day so far. Here are five of my drugstore favourites:

Essence Matt Matt Matt Longlasting Lipgloss in 04 Ready, Set, Impress
These are really comfortable matte lip creams which only cost £2.30 at Wilko. They look smooth all day long and feel hydrating too.
I prefer these to the famous Nyx Soft Matte Lip Creams which feel too matte and drying for my lips, and at half the price these Essence lipglosses are well worth a try.

Tanya Burr Lipstick in the shade Big Kiss
Tanya Burr's lipsticks cost £6.99 at Superdrug which is a similar price to a lot of drugstore brands, although a couple of pounds more expensive than Makeup Revolution, MUA and Barry M for example.
It has sturdy, gold packaging and feels extremely moisturising and comfortable so for me it is worth the price. It contains Vitamin E and looks beautifully smooth and shiny on my lips without getting messy.

Revlon Ultra HD Gel Lipstick in Dahlia
I love this lipstick all year round. Revlon make a few "gel" lipstick formulas which really cling to your lips and feel extremely smooth.
These are long-lasting without being drying at all and this muted colour is great for wearing every day.

L'Oréal Collection Exclusive Julianne's Red
This is a very bright, festive red shade which lasts well.
I like the formula of this L'Oréal Collection Exclusive range which is neither fully matte nor super shiny. They have a selection of different red shades named for celebrities, ranging from muted, dark wine colours to brighter pinky reds and cost £6.99 each.

Makeup Revolution Lip Pencil in the shade Regal
My final festive choice is a Makeup Revolution lip pencil. It feels really soft and velvety, not like an old-fashioned scratchy pencil at all.
This shade is called Regal and is a lovely, orangey red. You can apply any kind of balm or gloss over the top of it if you want to, and because it is a pencil you can apply it really precisely.

  1. You so suit a red lip! I have to be careful with the red I use, anything slightly orange just dosent work with my pale skin. I love the look of the Revlon one, gorgeous! Thanks for sharing, thats another item on my wish list! x

    1. Thanks so much, Kerry. It's amazing how many different shades of red there are and how different they look on! x

  2. You look stunning with all these shades on. The MR pencil looks beautiful - I will be having a swatch of that soon xxx

  3. That's such a great range of festive redness😉I think I'd like to try the Tanya Burr one as her lipsticks are brilliant and I love the Essence one too😙
